Hunter Wise Financial Group's Daniel McClory Pledges One Million Dollars to Eastern Michigan University Track Teams

IRVINE, Calif., March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Daniel J. McClory, Managing Director, Hunter Wise Financial Group, LLC, has pledged $1 million to Eastern Michigan University's track and cross country teams, the largest gift ever to the EMU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Mr. McClory is a former EMU track and cross country competitor who was a three-time captain and four-year letter winner for both teams.
"The Eastern Michigan University experience and participation on the track and cross country teams has been a difference-maker in my life," said Mr. McClory. "It's time to formally recognize that and give back to EMU and the athletic programs to maintain the prominence of these nationally-ranked teams."
The EMU men's track and field and cross country programs are rich in tradition over the past 102 years. The Green and White have produced 56 Division I All-Americans, 27 Division II All-Americans and 40 NAIA All-Americans. In addition, Eastern has had a profound impact on the Olympic Games, with 11 track and field athletes reaching the summer games a total of 15 times, and a track Olympian in every Olympiad since 1960. Two of those former EMU standouts, Hayes Jones and Hasely Crawford, were both Gold Medal winners. Jones won the gold in the 110-meter hurdles in the 1964 Olympics and added a Bronze Medal in 1960. Crawford earned the title of the World's Fastest Man by winning the 100 meters at the 1976 Olympics. In addition to those two stars, former 800-meter runner Earl Jones was a Bronze Medalist in that event at the 1984 Olympics.
"I couldn't think of a better time or more qualified cause to fund than EMU track and cross country and its inclusive, 'elite but not elitist' legacy that's still thriving more than 25 years since I left campus," Mr. McClory said.
Mr. McClory has for the past decade provided U.S.-European corporate finance and advisory services and for the last four years has served as a Managing Director for Hunter Wise Financial Group, LLC, in Irvine, California. Hunter Wise provides mid-market investment banking services from offices in the U.S., the United Kingdom, China and Canada. Mr. McClory leads the Hunter Wise Small Cap Equities practice, which has assisted more than 50 American, Chinese and European companies in finding growth capital through the public markets, and acting on merger and acquisition opportunities. He is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, Michigan, where he earned a BS in English and an MA in Language and International Trade. He serves as a Member of the Corporate Finance Faculty for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
