William L. Loftis, CBI, M&AMI, AVA
Mr. Loftis brings an owner’s perspective to the fields of M&A and corporate finance. As co-owner, he helped build one of Michigan's largest title insurance companies, which was later sold to LandAmerica Financial Group (ticker symbol LFG). He then served as VP and State Manager for LandAmerica/Lawyers Title. Later, as principal, he led a series of mergers and acquisitions to form one of Michigan's largest full-service realty firms – a firm that included title, mortgage and other affiliated companies. Bill co-founded Blue River Financial Group, a Midwest investment banking firm specializing in mergers and acquisitions for middle market companies. His frontline experience in acquiring, merging, assimilating and divesting businesses has provided practical insights that fortify his theoretical knowledge. He has assisted clients through the M&A process in multiple industries, such as, financial services, military equipment, forestry, automotive, chemical, steel, surgical equipment, business services, construction, real estate, title insurance and others.
Mr. Loftis earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Alma College in Michigan and a Master of Science in Finance from Colorado State University. Mr. Loftis holds the Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) and Merger & Acquisition Master Intermediary (M&AMI) designations from the International Business Brokers Association. Mr. Loftis is an Accredited Valuation Analyst (AVA) through the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. As an AVA, Mr. Loftis is qualified to render expert valuation opinions for estate and gift tax purposes, buy/sell agreements, bankruptcy and foreclosures, fairness opinions, litigation support (e.g., partner disputes or divorce) and transactions.
Mr. Loftis is an active member of the IBBA, M & A Source, Association of Corporate Growth (ACG), National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA) and other professional organizations. He is currently the Chair of the M & A Source Long Range Planning Committee, the world’s largest association of dealmakers.
